"Blues for Allah" was originally composed and performed by the Grateful Dead. While these days one is likely to think the Grateful Dead are yet another group of self-hating homosexual Muslim nihilists who worship death and the Perfect Man, Mohammed (may peas be upon him), they were actually a rock band famous for their live performances.
Click on the big arrow below to hear the original recording of "Blues for Allah."
Here's a pretty unique cover of the song, with a well-crafted video to go along with it.
(In other 'B' news, the Blue Moon Tavern in Seattle, just up the road from where I live, will be playing host to a Grateful Dead Night with Kuli Loach on Sunday, April 17.)

did they get death threats for this?
ReplyDeleteI don't know. There was one suspected incident, but the haze of second-hand pot smoke was so thick around the concert ground that the would-be Lion of Islam/stud for 72 Virgins passed out before he managed to do any harm.
